Anna Dennis
graphic design and digital media
As a graphic designer with a skill for taking an idea and transforming it into a design concept through my love of art and digital media, I enjoy seeing where the process takes me in completing a project. I prefer the digital format as a means to transform an image. My favorite programs are Photoshop and Illustrator, and I work with them to cohesively form a whole composition. I have a good eye for color with a strong understanding of color theory. I like enhancing an image incrementally and observing how just a small adjustment can make a big difference in the message the design conveys.

I have an elegant style that is whimsical and fanciful, favoring graceful curves, yet I like keeping my designs clean and simplistic, but with an artistic twist. Modernism in art history inspires me because of its simplicity. That I'm able to visually communicate an idea without static words on a page is an aspect of graphic design that I find powerful.

I have had an interest in art since a toddler with my first drawing of Gollum and have been into design since I turned twelve years old, when I discovered clothes and make-up and had fun finding my own personal style. When I was fourteen and started using Photoshop, I discovered the infinite art I could create. Realizing that I could create anything, I became passionate about graphic design.

I've completed various design works, a favorite of which was a typographic anatomy project in which I created the typographic image of a lily using only type. I've also enjoyed making signs and learning about semiotics. I've learned many good design practices and am motivated to apply them as a productive team member, combining art and technology in the development of graphics, using the skills I've learned thus far to promote a product.

My career goal is to be an art director in a well-established agency and in this regard, I look forward to gaining experience in a business environment where I can pursue this fun and exciting field. I'd like to have the freedom to further develop my own style, my interpretation, in whatever form of graphic design I find myself working.
