The Candle Pour is Tampa's first pour-your-own custom candle experience.The first shop opened in 2019 in Hyde Park Village and is family-owned and operated by Misty and Dennis Akers.The couple wanted to create a business that would provide a wonderful guest experience with a unique product that people could use every day. In a world where life is revolved around technology and more online interaction, The Candle Pour creates a social and interactive experience that brings people together. The shop offers over 120 unique, premium fragrance oils to choose and design your own custom scent to be blended into a candle.
The Candle Pour is all about giving back to the community. In the past year, the business alone has made hundreds of candles for nurses at Tampa General Hospital during the pandemic. The Candle Pour has also partnered with Children's Cancer Center to set up multiple mobile pours. Throughout the year, the team creates special candles with signature blends to sell for fundraisers to support programs like Metro Inclusive Health, Moffit Cancer Center, and USF.
The Candle Pour is a space that is welcomed to all. The shop would never discriminate based off race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, language, (dis)ability, age, religious commitment, or political perspective.
Did we mention that we're big sports fans? The Candle Pour is a big supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa pride runs deep in the shop since the owners (and most employees) have roots in "Champa Bay". The shop has a signature blend for each local team and has several athletes that are regular customers. (Including Tom Brady)
To help meet the demand for the blooming buisness, The Candle Pour moved across the street from their original location in Hyde Park Village to a much bigger space. This new location was double the size of the prevous shop and features a new private room for larger groups and parties.
On top of the recent relocation in Hyde Park, The Candle Pour announced in 2021 that they will be opening up their second space in the edge district in St.Pete. This expansion is meant to help clientele located across the bay. Misty and Dennis have plans to open a future space in Sarasota before having thoughts of franchising.
