The Grateful Dead

The dead is a psychedelic rock band that can out of San Francisco in the early 1960's. The band is known for their super long live shows that consisted of them jamming for hours. They blended country, rock, bluegrass and blues and made it into their own and our still touring to an extent today.They are actively touring with three of the original members and with a couple new ones. John mayer is on lead guitar and is singing Jerry's parts.

From the garage to the stage

In the begginning the Dead just played various free live shows at obscure venues in San Francisco. After a while Bill Graham, who was a well known Rock N' Roll promoter noticed the band. He helped get their career started and was able to get them a huge gig at the well known "Fillmore West".

In the early 1970's the dead added lyrisist Rob Hunter. In 1971 "Workingman's Dead and "American Beauty" gave the band a couple songs that climbed the charts, showcasing the dead to the world.
